Capturing Moments: A Special Family Session in Port Washington

As a photographer, I’ve always believed in the power of images to tell stories, evoke emotions, and create lasting memories. When One Day to Remember reached out to me about a session with a family who has been enduring the unthinkable, I was humbled and eager to participate. This organization focuses on capturing cherished moments for families facing significant health challenges. It was a session filled with love, laughter, and memories that I was honored to capture.

That morning, I had the privilege of serving Dan, Lisa, and their three wonderful children. Dan was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in November 2023. This battle has brought both challenges and an incredible resilience to their family. Prior to the session, Lisa shared that they are a family who loves to spend time together, have fun, and joke around. They are a family of faith and have received much support from their entire community. This session aimed not just to document their time together in Port Washington, but to celebrate the love, laughter, and faith that binds them and gets them through these difficult times.

As we continued, Lisa and Dan shared little anecdotes about their family adventures and interests. This created a warm atmosphere that made it easy to capture their genuine connections. I took care to frame the little moments of joy and laughter. I focused on their love as a family as well as the little details hidden between.
